Blyde dam boat trips open and compliant to Covid regulations
Enjoy the splendour of the third largest Canyon in the world. Unquestionably being the largest ‘green canyon’ due to its lush Subtropical foliage. An interpretation tour by a tour guide will take you to the you to the rare living Kadishi Tufa waterfall and the Three Rondawels. An abundance of wildlife will keep you distracted while learning more about the natural history of the Blyde Canyon.
The Blyde River canyon supports large diversity of life, including numerous fish and antelope species as well as Hippos and Crocodiles, primate species and a diversity of birdlife such as the African Fish Eagle, African Finfoot and much more.
Possibly the best view in the whole of the Blyde River Canyon is of the “Three Rondavels”, huge, round rocks, thought to be reminiscent of the houses or huts of the indigenous people, known as rondavels. The Canyon is famous for the Kadishi Tufa waterfall. At 200m (around 660 feet) in height it is the second tallest Tufa waterfall on earth. In the case of the Kadishi Tufa fall, the formation that has been produced strikingly resembles a face which is crying profusely, and is thus sometimes known as the weeping face of nature.

We had an amazing experience. The guide was knowledgeable and kind. - Andrew
The cruise alonge the Blyde River Canyon was an amazing experience! The guy who took us around explained us a lot of interesting things and was really nice. We could see many hippoes and a baby croccodile, and some others animals (not as lucky to see the leopard). I really enjoyed also seeing the three rondavels. It was very nice going on the roof of the boat. i suggest this experience - Alessandra
We really enjoyed [?]loved the cruise and the driver everything went well - Palesa
I must say that the boat trip itself was absolutely amazing and our guide, very friendly and informative. We had lovely weather and saw a few hippos, crocs, eagles, the "crying face" waterfall, a cave and some other birdlife. Overall, very enjoyable afternoon. I would suggest taking the 15hoo trip, as you are almost guaranteed a sunset on the lake, which is breathtaking. I can mention, however, the amenities on shore, is very limited, so ensure to pack sunscreen, a hat, some snacks and a drink or two, but no alcohol...check your phone and camera is fully charged, as you are going to take loads of beautiful photos...I hope you enjoy it as much as we did... - Vicky
Wonderful experience with a very good guide - Claudine
