Enjoy the splendour of the third largest Canyon in the world. Unquestionably being the largest ‘green canyon’ due to its lush Subtropical foliage. An interpretation tour by a tour guide will take you to the you to the rare living Kadishi Tufa waterfall and the Three Rondawels. An abundance of wildlife will keep you distracted while learning more about the natural history of the Blyde Canyon.
The Blyde River canyon supports large diversity of life, including numerous fish and antelope species as well as Hippos and Crocodiles, primate species and a diversity of birdlife such as the African Fish Eagle, African Finfoot and much more.
Possibly the best view in the whole of the Blyde River Canyon is of the “Three Rondavels”, huge, round rocks, thought to be reminiscent of the houses or huts of the indigenous people, known as rondavels. The Canyon is famous for the Kadishi Tufa waterfall. At 200m (around 660 feet) in height it is the second tallest Tufa waterfall on earth. In the case of the Kadishi Tufa fall, the formation that has been produced strikingly resembles a face which is crying profusely, and is thus sometimes known as the weeping face of nature.

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the 90-minute boat cruise at Blyde River Canyon, and it was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the staff from Blyde Canyon Adventure Centre were welcoming, professional, and well-organized. The 10-seater boat made the experience feel personal and relaxed, without the crowds you often get on larger tours. The Skipper is awesomme and very friendly. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking --- towering cliffs, lush vegetation, and the calm waters of the dam create a peaceful yet awe-inspiring atmosphere. Along the way, our guide shared fascinating information about the canyon's history, geology, and wildlife, which really added depth to the experience. We were lucky enough to spot some wildlife, including birds and possibly even crocodiles and hippos, which made it even more exciting. The pace of the cruise was perfect --- not rushed, giving plenty of time to take photos and soak in the views. Overall, this cruise is a must-do if you're visiting the area. It's the perfect combination of relaxation, natural beauty, and informative guiding. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable outdoor experience. - Thinus
We had an absolutely unforgettable experience on the Blyde River Canyon Boat Cruise. What truly made the trip exceptional was our skipper and guide, Simeon. Simeon was outstanding: professional, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what he does. He prioritised the safety of every passenger throughout the journey, which immediately put us at ease. What stood out even more was his kindness and attentiveness toward a young boy travelling without his parents. He went above and beyond to ensure the child felt comfortable and safe. His ability to spot wildlife was seriously impressive. Thanks to him, we saw hippos, crocodiles, and river monitors. He also shared interesting insights along the way, making the experience both educational and engaging. And then, of course, there's the magical beauty of the Blyde River Canyon which is something that photos simply can't capture. Being out on the water, surrounded by towering cliffs and untouched nature, was truly special. This cruise is an absolute must-do, and if you're lucky enough to have Simeon as your guide, you're in for a world-class experience. - Carin
